L’Hospitalet de Gazin 2004, Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

“Top summer wines for less than £25. The cooler, classier 2004 vintage came as a relief, after the 2003 heatwave and this ridiculously good value for money claret is the second wine from Château Gazin that lies directly next door to Pétrus, arguably Bordeaux’s most celebrated and costly red. To winkle out a Moueix stable Pomerol of this quality for less than £20 is a real find and everyone should splash out this summer on this gorgeous fat, ripe, fleshy, plum, game and chocolate-licked red.”
