Distinctly more refined than many Portuguese reds that i have tasted which overpower. This one is drinking well now, the tannins have softened which expresses the 18 months of oak. Good with a stew!

Light spicy nose, medium fruit with hint of strawberries, moderate tannin and medium finish. More three and a half stars than three.

The historic vineyards of Quinta de Chocapalha, dating back to the 16th century, are beautifully sited on the sunny hillsides of Portugal’s Estremadura region, north-east of Lisbon. Owners Paulo and
