Pinot Blanc Auxerrois Cave de Cleebourg 2009
Moreish and quirky version of Pinot Blanc, native to the Alsatian village of Cleebourg.
This curious cousin of Pinot Blanc is known as Auxerrois specifically in Cleebourg, Northern Alsace. With smaller yields than its more famous relative, the Cleebourg Pinot Blanc is more precocious, producing wine that is light-bodied and fruity with notes of fresh herbs on the finish.
Pinot Blanc/Pinot Bianco, 2009, Dry, Medium bodied, 12%, Cork

"Pinot Blanc gets rather sidelined by Alsace's more showy grapes, but it can be delightful, especially as an aperitif or with a sliver of quiche. This is right on the button - fresh-faced, floral and apple-scented, medium bodied and soft-textured with a clean, delicately mineral finish."
"Alsace is so often overlooked and this is a perfect reminder of why their wines are so ace. Delicate with citrus and floral hints to snort and love. Ripe, fruity and refreshing when you sip it, with a whole world of sexy round peachy fruit and a gentle mouthwatering flourish. I'm sipping it in the garden for the rest of the day."
