Macon-Verze Domaines Leflaive 2008

France  >  Burgundy  >  Mâcon  >  Macon-Villages

Blended from 5 different parcels, Domaine Leflaive's Macon-Verzé offers complexity and real depth, complemented by a zesty, mineral character.

Domaines Leflaive, a label exclusive to Corney & Barrow, was launched when Domaine Leflaive purchased this Macon property back in 2004. Conversion to biodynamic viticulture began immediately and the wine is vinified n Puligny. This is destined for early drinking, with complex layers of stone fruit, citrus and zesty minerality.

Chardonnay, 2008, Dry, Full bodied, 13%, Cork

More disappointing than bad. I thought it was overly acidic and lacking in depth. Nothing to compare with other wines they produce.

Press Reviews

"While Boxing Day is rightly regarded as a time to unwind from the previous day's exertions, there's no need to take it just as easy on the quality of wine you may wish to enjoy. To that end, consider Domaine Leflaive Macon-Verze, Burgundy, France 2008 - so much more exciting than an ordinary Mcon, with its creamy mouthfeel and ample citrus, melon and stone-fruit flavours, this is polished and sleek."

Decanter Magazine (January Issue)

This refers to the 2009 vintage:
"Anne-Claude Leflaive was a trailblazer. This, one of her more affordable wines, is a classic white burgundy balancing richness and tense acidity."

David Williams, The Observer Food Monthly (August 2012)
