Le Clarence de Haut Brion 2010

France  >  Bordeaux  >  Graves

This is the second wine of Haut-Brion, which used to be called Bahans Haut-Brion.

A blend of 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Jet-ruby, this presents intense, high-toned, violet-infused black fruit, underpinned by a graphite minerality. Lured by the heady aromatics on the nose, there is something of a surprise in the armoury of the palate, which really packs a punch. Rich fruit is layered with savoury elements, bitter chocalate and espresso coffee. The tannins though impressive, are nicely rounded at the edges and provide a grounding for the prolonged finish - coiled and reticent, this needs time.
