Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2010

France  >  Bordeaux  >  Pessac-Leognan

Ch. Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux's most undervalued wines. Formerly a part of the same estate as Haut-Brion and La Mission, this Chateau has been performing well for many vintages and non-more so that in 2009 and 2010.

This was a star buy last year and this year is no different. If you want pure drinking pleasure from a great terroir, this is a must Jet-plum ruby, this is rather subdued, only gradually revealing hints of dark fruit, mocha and an earthy, savoury character. The palate is similarly subdued. Often very ebullient at this stage, this is more buttoned up, with more strident tannins - and yet so much to give, in time.
