Chateau Quintus Grand Cru St-Emilion 2011

France  >  Bordeaux  >  St-Emilion  >  St Emilion

The nose, initially a little reticent, opens up to deliver spiced, ripe fruit, vibrant, fresh and stylish. The palate is effusive, bright and breezy with a mocha-rich backdrop, punctuated by a firm tannic profile which directs a long, layered finish.

Quintus was formerly known as Tertre Daugay, changing name with the Dillon's acquisition in 2011. This is a lovely colour, from a 50:50 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, deep and intense and form. The nose, initially a little reticent, opens up to deliver spiced, ripe fruit, vibrant, fresh and stylish. The palate is effusive, bright and breezy with a mocha-rich backdrop, punctuated by a firm tannic profile which directs a long, layered finish. Only 28% of the crop made it into this, the first wine - a good call for a début year.
