Le Dragon de Quintus Grand Cru St-Emilion 2011

France  >  Bordeaux  >  St-Emilion  >  St Emilion

Jet plum-bramble, brilliant and glittering, this has a rather lovely nose, dark, sweet, red and black fruit to the fore. The palate offers good concentration of fruit with background coffee notes - a stylish profile which belies its second wine status.

The latest addition to the stable Château Quintus, created when Château Tertre Daugay, the St Emilion property, was purchased last year by the owners of Haut Brion. Renamed Château Quintus as it is now the fifth property in the Clarence Dillon estate. Formerly Tertre Dauguy, the changed name under the new owners - the Dillon family - who bought the property in June 2011. The blend is 54.3% Merlot, 45.7% Cabernet Franc. Jet plum-bramble, brilliant and glittering, this has a rather lovely nose, dark, sweet, red and black fruit to the fore. The palate offers good concentration of fruit with background coffee notes - a stylish profile which belies its second wine status. A pretty wine, with gentle , rounded tannins, there is an intriguing touch of spice - fresh and easygoing.
