Assistant Shop Manager/Sales Executive Corney & Barrow (East Anglia) Ltd Based in Newmarket

We require an experienced Assistant Shop Manager to share (with the Shop Manager) the retail sales duties and premises management duties at our lovely shop in Newmarket High Street. The role is 5 days per week Monday – Saturday (working on a rota basis) and also includes face to face sales at some evening external events and also at Tattersalls Thoroughbred Horse Sales during pre-sale and sale dates.

Corney & Barrow will also look to develop the successful candidate’s abilities with the opportunity to additionally train as a Sales Executive, ultimately becoming responsible for growing wine sales and private & trade customers with a focus on repeat and regular trade, maximising both turnover and profit and achieving an annual target for both. We would like to recruit an ambitious individual, wanting to expand their capabilities and able to bring creative thinking to the role in order to attract new customers both on the retail front and the private/trade sales front.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

- Previous experience in wine sales, particularly retail, with a track record of identifying and delivering new business
- Exemplary customer service skills with the ability to sell face to face on a one to one basis or to larger groups
- They will be creative, enthusiastic, charming and persuasive, goal oriented and able to work well with team colleagues and on own initiative
- WSET qualifications advantageous but not essential
- Driving Licence is essential
- Computer literacy essential – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Experience of Maginus and/or Microsoft AX helpful but not essential.
