Peter Sisseck’s journey is well-known to many but for newcomers, it is a fabulous, almost incredible story of a young Danish schoolboy’s rather far-fetched dream to become a winemaker not only being realised but fulfilled to an unimaginable degree.
His aspirations survived school and were still very much alive years later leading Peter to study in Bordeaux. At a crossroads, post studies, he found himself in Spain where, albeit an unlikely scenario, he built his considerable reputation and ultimately made his home.
Bordeaux however, happily continued to pull at his heart strings and we were therefore delighted when Peter returned to the region where he learned his craft – even more so when we had the opportunity to represent the new wine. Château Rocheyron is a lovely property, beautifully sited in the hamlet of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, just 3.6km from the centre of Saint-Émilion, on the edge of the celebrated limestone plateau.
This evening starts with a celebratory vertical tasting of Château Rocheyron Grand Cru Saint- Émilion before delving into the iconic Dominio de Pingus, Ribera del Duero in Spain.
