Beaune Coucherias 1er Cru Domaine Pierre Labet 2015

Francois Labet is son of the later Pierre Labet and has been at the helm of the family business for some decades, spearheading a move to organic and now biodynamic production. All of the wines bearing the Pierre Labet labels share the same fastidious attention to detail as that exercised at Château de La Tour, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru. The vineyards are farmed organically, and all the wines are produced in the cellars in Clos de Vougeot. All of the family vineyards and wines are overseen by François

"All plots were picked under mercifully fine conditions in 2015, contributing to the admirable overall health of the grapes. Minimal sorting was required. Phenolic maturity was excellent, the thick grape skins, well-ventilated clusters and beautifully ripe stems being a godsend for François’ trademark whole bunch vinification. There is complexity here, with a fine minerality and a more rigorous tannic chassis. Lots of substance, balanced by a beautifully enveloping acidity. Higher toned too, with a touch of brine, balanced by rather lush fruit sweetness on the finish. "
