Patrick Javillier is an engaging, quietly-spoken man with a disarming smile. Having taken over from his father, he expanded the Domaine’s holdings to today’s ten hectares. Marion, one of Patrick’s two daughters, is now responsible for vinifying the red wines and his son-in-law Pierre-Emmanuel makes whites alongside Patrick who is officially retired. Clearly from Marion’s face “retired” is questionable.This is an estate where exceptional wines are made from some not so exceptional parcels of land. There is a wonderful complexity, balance and a capacity for moderate age. In the words of Marion Javiller, "2016 is a beautiful vintage, balanced, pure, with character, body and a sense of place"
"1/3 new oak. Oligocène comes from a vineyard called Les Pellans which is half Meursault AC and half Bourgogne Blanc AC. Oligocène comes from the Bourgogne Blanc section but the whole vineyard is made up of the same soil structure so that the Oligocène is basically a Meursault villages without bearing the appellation.Greengold in colour, this presents very ripe, rounded, generous nose, white flowers followed by definitive pastry notes, lemon drizzle cake and tarte tatin opulence. The texture is lovely, luxuriant and leesy, poised yet flamboyant with attractive vivacity and fresh aromatics on the finish."
