"50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Merlot. Ausone is a 7.25ha vineyard on the St Emilion limestone plateau, whose vines are 54 years old on average. Toasty raspberry fruit, impressively dense and svelte on the palate, framed by shapely, firm tannins and sustained by just-so acidity. This comes to a fine point on the long finish. Very correct, with energy and real excitement.
Picked 5th September to 28th September – a long harvest which started early. Yields are average this year.
