Chateau Bourgneuf 2011 Magnum

Our instincts tell us that Ch. Bougneuf is a wine to follow sited, as it is, just west of Chateau Trotanoy itself and therefore well placed to produce great wine. Owned by the Vayrin family since 1821, the current winemaker, daughter of the owners Xavier and Dominique is Frédérique.

"90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is planted here on gravel and clay over an iron-rich subsoil - so far, so wonderful. The wine sees 12 to 14 months in 35% new oak. Deeply-coloured, it is immediately inviting. The nose offers warming fruit, touchd by savoury notes and gentle hints of oak. The palate develops this with nicely layered, richly deployed flavours and good concentration all complemented by pleasantly extracted tannins - fine fresh length."
