Chateau Bourgneuf 2015

Chateau Bourgneuf 2015

Since 1821, the Vayron family has owned and run Château Bourgneuf, which consists of a single 9-hectare plot in the heart of Pomerol, just to the west of the famed Château Trotanoy. There is a sense of the relationship with that great property, not least through Bourneuf possessing some of its pure clay soil. There is also some gravel and the mix nurtures depth and power, resulting in naturally concentrated wines. Traditional vinification allows for wine that remains true to its terroir. 2015 is a great vintage

"90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, in a terrific year. Creamy, almost linseeded nose, powerful and red fruited. This is a big, even burly wine with big extract but fruit well in support, a chewy concentration and a powerful, fresh finish. This Bourgneuf combines a great capacity for ageing and very attractive approachability in its youth. "
