The blend here this year is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Fathomless, jet-cherry, firm and opaque, with a wonderful sheen, this is attractive from the outset. A compote of warm black fruit dominates the nose, cherries, blackberry and focussed cassis, all complemented by hints of warm fruitcake, and dark chocolate, punctuated by minerals. Grippy on attack, the tannic profile, though very fine grained, is hugely powerful but so too is the concentration of stylish, succulent fruit - eminently fresh through to along, mocha-rich finish.Estimated arrival time in UK of Bordeaux 2010 en primeur wines: Spring 2013
"Whilst actually a 2nd growth, it is the unofficial "sixth first growth", with a track record of excellence that includes many legendary vintages. The tasting was staggering, superb quality, which has been echoed by the critics."
