Margaux took selection to the highest level, producing just 38% Grand Vin from the entire crop, rigorously selected in both vineyard and cellar. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon saw its way into the blend, complemented by 10% Merlot and 2% each CabernetFranc and Petit Verdot. An intense jet-plum in colour, firm to a tight, firm fuschia rim, this year's Margaux offers concentrated blueberry, blackberry and red fruit on the nose, laced with shades of violet and rose - perfumed and very attractive. The palate then delivers similar aromatics within a silk-textured, concentrated context. The tannic structure is significant but rounded and fruit-coated. sensual, seductive, pure, long and elegant - very fine result
