This has been sourced from a Grand Cru property, bordering the Pomerol border.
With 85% Merlot in the blend and its proximity to Pomerol, this was something of a foregone conclusion as a Corney & Barrow selection….when we eventually came across it.
So many wines were discarded for not quite fulfilling the brief.
Here is our hallmark requirement for opulent cherried fruit with hints of mocha and dark chocolate – sumptuous but with attitude
"An intense, deep-plum in colour, this is dominated by dark, edgy fruit, with earthy, mineral undertones. There are hints of caramel, dark choc-ice and a berried coulis. Seductive and ripe, suffused with vanilla this is a rich, layered introduction to Saint Emilion – with the added complexity of toasted oak reflecting its grand cru status"
