Domaine Bonneau du Martray is best known for Corton-Charlemagne- one of the very greatest of all Grand Cru white Burgundies. We started working with the family which was only the third set of owners in over twelve centuries. This is a treasured, tiny 1.5 hectare plot dedicated to Pinot Noir, which produces a Corton Grand Cru of unique minerality. When initially bidding to work with the Domaine, Corney & Barrow opted for a “please, if nothing else, let us look after the Corton” – a plea which failed.. but we eventually had a better “happy ever after” conclusion. Loving the wine, we strive every year to increase our percentage of the global allocation
"Profound, almost opaque ruby colour. Spectacular nose of briary, spicy almost camphorous red fruit, laced by oak. The palate is sweetly, juicily fruited, generously extracted, that freshness again and with that hallmark grainy texture to the structure. A very pure Corton, and a very, very good one.
