This is the first vintage of this new wine. La Croix Violette is spread over two plots, totalling 0.33 hectares in Brochon, just behind the Château de Brochon, which you can see from the domaine. These are seventy-year old vines. One plot is more clay-rich, while the other is on the limestone bedrock. This will be in the Fixin appellation from 2024. An elegant, red-berried nose leads into a palate of crunchy, precise, pure raspberry fruit, tactile and thick-skinned (these are small millerand berries), lifted by fresh acidity. One of the first plots to be picked in 2022, on the same day as the grands crus. 50% new oak. Eight barrels were made in 2022. A brilliant first offering.
