COVID-19 FAQ

To all our customers: With the continuation of Covid-19 it seems only right to answer any questions relating to our procedures. Below we will try to answer any concerns:
We continue to operate as normal. Our delivery service remains unaffected, we continue to implement enhanced hygiene measures to protect both our staff and customers. We will follow governmental directives and will keep you informed of any changes to our procedures or schedules.

1. What measures has Corney & Barrow implemented internally in the light of Covid-19?

We continue to follow government advice regarding working practice. Our office teams have been working remotely since mid-March. Our warehouses have enhanced hygiene procedures. For example, common areas (eg surfaces such as door knobs, light switches, banisters etc) are regularly disinfected throughout the day, and sanitisers are in place throughout. Finally, drivers of inbound deliveries remain in their vehicles at all time.

2. What is the range of wines you have to offer?

Corney & Barrow searches the wine world to bring delicious, exciting wines to your door. Wines for everyday drinking or for your most special occasions, and to suit every budget.

3. What new measures are in place for home deliveries?

At the start of their shift all drivers will be provided with equipment to sanitise their vehicle. All drivers should be in possession of Disposable Gloves, Hand Sanitiser and a Face Masks. When making deliveries to Private Customers drivers should not enter a customer’s premises unless requested to do so. The wine should be placed at the customer’s door and the driver should knock on the door, step back and wait for the customer to answer the door. The driver may ask the customer to sign the delivery note / EPOD device. However, if the customer prefers, he can also sign it on his behalf.

4. What measures are in place for on-trade deliveries?

When making deliveries to On Trade Customers drivers should not enter the customer’s premises unless requested to do so. If the customer asks the driver to deliver inside the premises he should take the wine to wherever the customer has requested, keeping his distance at all times. The customer will be asked to sign either the electronic EPOD device or a paper copy, whichever he feels more comfortable with. If the customer prefers, the driver can also sign the delivery note / EPOD device on his behalf.

5. I am self-isolating, do I have to inform C&B? Are you taking any extra precautions when delivering?

When ordering, please would you inform us you are self-isolating. If ordering online, you can do this in the comments section at checkout. The van driver will then be informed as part of the delivery instructions, and will then follow a ‘knock, drop and go’ policy.

6. Can you deliver Reserves wines as usual?

Yes, at the moment Reserves wines can be delivered as per the usual delivery schedule.


7. Are Corney & Barrow Ayr and Newmarket shops open?

In line with current guidelines both shops will continue to be opened. Newmarket opening hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday. Customers are encouraged to call ahead so we can have orders ready for collection. Local deliveries are also possible on a daily basis. Ayr shop opening hours are 10am-5.30pm Tuesday to Saturday. Local deliveries can happen on request.

8. Are all tastings and events postponed?

Following government guidance on social distancing, we have taken the decision to postpone all tasting and events, big or small. If you have bought tickets with us, they will be fully refunded.

10. What is your UK delivery policy?

Delivery is free for all wine orders of £100 and over on mainland UK. Wine orders under £100 are charged at £7.50.
Wine orders will be delivered next day in London and within the M25 and within 3-7 working days for the rest of the UK, Monday to Friday.
Deliveries outside of the UK Mainland (Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Scottish Isles) will incur additional delivery charges, we will contact you to advise after your order has been placed.

11. Do you offer next day delivery?

Yes we do next day delivery in London and within the M25, Mondays to Fridays. Order by midday and we will deliver anywhere within the M25 the next working day. Subject to stock availability. Broking orders may be subject to delays so please call if in doubt.
