Frédéric Lafarge and his wife Chantal, decided, in the spring of 2014, to look further afield, creating a new Domaine in nearby Beaujolais, Domaine Lafarge Vial. They managed to secure several parcels of vines within Fleurie and one small adjoining parcel of Chiroubles.
"This is a south-east facing parcel of 1.33 hectares sited higher up, on the first slope in Fleurie, approaching from Moulin-à-Vent. Really perfumed on the nose, rose petals and a little dark peppery spice. The palate is immediately stony-mineral and taut, balancing against a fabulous and unexpected weight on the mid-palate, with lively sustained acidity persisting throughout.
