Tenuta di Trinoro produces some of the finest Cabernet Franc in Italy. The first three bottles in this mixed case are a Cabernet Franc masterclass, from these magnificent vineyards. Part two of the case contains wines from Tenuta di Passopisciaro. Following his first visit to Etna in the early 2000s, Andrea described the landscape as "like the surface of the moon". Seemingly undeterred he established Passopisciaro soon after, since then it has become one the region's stars, as well as a global leader in volcanic viticulture. the final three bottles are two reds from the indigenous Nerello Mascalese (Nebbiolo & Pinot lovers take note) and a beautifully precise Chardonnay that represents this unique terroir brilliantly. "Andrea Franchetti released his first commercial vintage (in southern Tuscany) in 1997 and quickly became an icon of the Italian wine scene. He seems to enjoy a challenge: 'off the beaten track' would have been a very generous way to describe the remote land he purchased in the Val d’Orcia back in the 1980s. There were no vines on the estate at the time and Andrea’s feelings about farming were ambivalent at best, making this meteoric rise quite a story."
