The colour is a much more intense plum/cherry and the nose also offers a different profile, being a little reticent at first, before revealing smoky, red and black fruit, with the emphasis on red berries, well-concentrated and ripe. 25% new wood has been used here to great effect, so that there are hints of pastry shop on the nose and a richness in texture, the perfect foil for sweet cherry and minerals. The finish is long and layered, supported by a firm tannic drive.
