Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Domaine Pierre Labet 2017

Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Domaine Pierre Labet 2017

2017, first and foremost, presents us with a delicious expression of Pinot Noir. François Labet applies the same rigorous detail to all of his wines as he does for Château de La Tour, Clos de Vougeot Grand cru, where, in fact, this wine is made - a characterful, fine Gevrey-Chambertin with real personality

"The "vieilles vignes" here are a more than respectable 60 years old. This is made from three blocks, La Justice (north-east), Les Crais (south-east) and La Jouise (south-west, just below MazyChambertin). 0.6 hectares in total, with everything being vinified together. Very Gevrey in style with that added old vine intensity and length, balanced against a very bright acidity. Dark berries, bitter cherries and kirsch notes are offset against exotic spices, with a sappy cohesiveness on the finish. 25% new oak."
