The 2009 vintage is a blend of 52% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon. Lustrous, deep, intense, jet-plum in colour, firm to the rim, this presents a wonderfully pure expression of blueberry, spice, tobacco and stony minerals on the nose with hints of cassis and vanilla set within an earthy, mineral backdrop. Well-rounded, fruit coated tannins provide muscle and drive. Warming and rich, there is lovely balance here, an elegant classicism which will both drink well young, yet has the capacity to age. Suggestions of its future prospects are evident through a sustained mocha-rich finish.
