Licanten Merlot Idahue Estate La Ronciere 2021
A mellow and complex Merlot, made from slow-ripening grapes located by the sea in Licantén D.O. – one of only four new DOs recognised in 2018, for its unique terroir. Viña La Ronciere is the only producer in this sub-region of the Curicó Valley. They grow the grapes for this wine at Idahue Estate, where they combine traditional methods with precision techniques to produce fresh, coastal and terroir-driven red wines.

LA RONCIERE
Viña La Ronciere was founded in 1949, but only much later in 2017 did they started their venture at Idahue Estate. This project pioneered grape growing in cooler Licanten, a coastal sub-region of Curico Valley, in view of the changing climate.

CHILEAN WINE
The quality and availability of Chilean wines have flourished in the last twenty years. While wine consumers worldwide enjoy the easy-drinking charm of Chile’s inexpensive fruity wines, Chile’s wine producers have higher aspirations too, to make stylish, complex wines expressive of their unique origins, wines with a tangible ‘sense of place’, a notion the Europeans call terroir.
