Lugana is an appellation for white wines that takes its name from the homonymous area around Sirmione, on Lake Garda. The uniqueness of Lugana lies in the texture and this is created by three factors: the grape -Trebbiano di Lugana, known also for its delicate floral characters, fresh acidity and minerality, the terroir -sandy and clay, enhancing the texture; and the special microclimate around Lake Garda.
"Made of 100% indigenous grape variety Trebbiano di Lugana, this wine is crisp and floral, with flavours of citrus, white stone fruit and almond. Silky and inviting, a benchmark example."
Italy’s Veneto wine region has played a pivotal part in Italy’s wine culture since Roman times, boosted by its strategic location close to Venice and the Adriatic. Today the Veneto is a thriving wine region, responsible for almost a sixth of Italy’s wine production and the source of Italy’s most successful contemporary wine ‘brand’ Pinot Grigio, a light-bodied dry white wine made from vineyards on the plains. Behind Venice, the Conegliano hills are home to Prosecco, the white grape and sparkling white wine style now taking the world by storm.
