About
Part of the Jackson Family Wines, Carmel Road it was founded in 1997 with the aim to produce wines that showcased the unique flavour profile of the region. These are wines that show a structure and texture unique to Monterey County, with a freshness, subtlety, and lower alcohol content than usually found in Napa Valley. Set much closer to the sea, the vines benefit from cooling breezes and evening fog, funnelled up the valley by the Humboldt Current. These are ideal growing conditions for the cool climate varietals that Monterey County is so well known for.
There are a number of Carmel Road vineyards, all located in the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, with different expositions, altitudes and soil-types; factors which significantly contribute to the complexity of the wines. Grapes for each wine are sourced from between 3 and 5 of these vineyards to draw out the best characteristics of each site. Today, Carmel Road is one of the leading estates of Monterey County, producing classic, terroir-driven, handmade wines, nurtured by an on-going commitment to sustainability.
