Chateau la Tour de l'Eveque Rose AOC Cotes de Provence 2015

Château La Tour de l'Evêque's classic rosé is a blend of traditional grape varieties, majoring on the Provence grape trio of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre and interestingly - a nod to tradition here - the white varieties Semillon, Rolle and Ugni Blanc. This classy blend is made from vines aged typically between 8 and 25 years, which are considered "young vines" by Régine Sumeire and ideal for making a juicy, refreshing rosé. Pale pink in colour with fresh, expressive raspberry and rose hip flavours, enhanced by a light creamy mouthfeel. A fine but moreish glassful, Tour makes the perfect aperitif, or a superb match for light fish recipes, cheese dishes and Asian cooking.

The enduring appeal of France’s classic wine styles turns on the peculiarly French – and often controversial – concept of terroir, the belief in wine with a ‘sense of place’, with flavours and textures.
