Today, they are the largest exporters of Romanian wine. Located on the far western fringes of the Romanian region of Transylvania/Banat, Recas Cramele boasts ancient vineyards, with the first records dating back to 1447. Romania is ideally positioned with a Mediterranean climate, on the same latitude as Bordeaux.
Combined with the southern and western facing slopes, and influenced by the Bega River and shade from the hills of the Western Carpathians, this is ideal wine producing country, allowing Recas Cramele to produce a wide variety of grapes. The winery is run on the motto that “a day of running around in circles believing that you are at the top of your development is the first day of your decline”. The emphasis here is on quality and innovation achieved by hard work, passion, and of course a great respect for the terroir.
