Il Barroccio IGT Rosso Terre Siciliane 2014

7/09/15: Wine of the week tasting note by our Broking Web Coordinator, Katrina Thuis: "I have always had a thing for Sicily's Nero d'Avola, and to me, this is a smashing example. It has the harmonious marriage of rich fruit (think plums and juicy berries) and spice that I'd expect, whilst retaining a lightness. With present but soft tannins, this is a wine that is incredibly approachable; it almost beckons you in. Having poured this for people and listened to their thoughts, I can honestly say that it was met with all-round approval and when the price was disclosed, there were many surprised faces."

"This opulent red wine is spicy and juicy, displaying flavours of plums and dark berries."
