Today it is one of the most renowned quality-driven cooperative wineries in Italy, counting around 1,000 farmer members, and 1,500 hectares of vineyards. The growers cultivate their own respective grapes with input from Riccardo Cotarella, one of Italy’s most famous and awarded consultant viticulturists, who has been instrumental in improving quality and modernising the winery. Great attention is paid to the environmental sustainability which is adopted at each stage of the transformation process, using renewable energy produced by its own innovative photovoltaic system.

Although the co-op has been led by only three different presidents over the last 50 years, it has been extremely successful in adapting to the new era and market changes. La Guardiense has become a symbol of the technological progress for the entire province of the Sannio region in Campania combining as it does a wealth of experience and a modernity of style.
