About

Massoc Frères was founded in 2015 by the French brothers François and Jean-Paul Massoc, with the fundamental idea of reviving heritage vineyards of the remote Maule, Itata and Bio-Bio regions. In this new venture, the brothers work directly with small traditional winegrowers in these areas – who have been tending the so-called ‘criolla’ grapes for generations – to produce high-quality export-oriented wines. ‘Wines with humanity’ is their motto, as they focus in the importance of man for wine production, be it as a grower in the vineyard or as a winemaker in the cellar.

Vineyards for the wines that C&B works with are located in Loncomilla, a sub region of the Maule Valley, and are almost 80 years old. They yield small volumes of concentrated juice. This give-and-take relationship between the Massoc’s expertise of modern oenology and native traditions from local growers helps preserve ancestral vineyards and develop wine production in Southern Chile.

Chilean Wine

The quality and availability of Chilean wines have flourished in the last twenty years. While wine consumers worldwide enjoy the easy-drinking charm of Chile’s inexpensive fruity wines, Chile’s wine producers have higher aspirations too, to make stylish, complex wines expressive of their unique origins, wines with a tangible ‘sense of place’, a notion the Europeans call terroir.
