Native to north-west Spain and thriving on slate terraces, the MencĂa grape variety delivers delicately fruity, lightly perfumed red wine with a characteristic mineral note.
Grown in the heart of the Bierzo region, a lush and fertile enclave of Castilla y LeĂłn, this versatile MencĂa is a great example from its most renowned appellation. Fragrant on the nose with delicate aromas of red cherries, blackberries and a hint of violet. The persistent mineral note present on the nose is echoed on the palate. Dense with a rounded texture, Salterio displays concentrated flavours of sweet and savoury cherry, complimented by light floral notes and lingering freshness.
Slightly chilled, Salterio MencĂa will make a refreshing aperitif and will definitely pair with a wide array of dishes such as: traditional Spanish cold cuts, “arroz al horno” (baked rice), bean stew, Galician beef empanada, roasted turkey.
"Native to North-Western Spain, this MencĂa comes from 70-year-old vines which impart it a succulent fruit concentration, smooth tannins and mineral note true to the region.
