Volnay Domaine Georges Glantenay 2017

Volnay Domaine Georges Glantenay 2017

Guillaume and Sarah Glantenay are a young brother and sister team. This family-owned Volnay domaine traces its roots to the 17th century, eight hectares, spread over Volnay, Pommard and Chambolle-Musigny. Guillaume is in charge of viticulture and winemaking, whilst Sarah is a great ambassador for the estate. Viticulture is lutte raisonée, involving ploughing, with no pesticides or herbicides. In the cellar, the grapes are almost all destemmed, then given a short cool maceration, following which fermentation occurs using natural yeasts. Fine, silky tannins are the key here, making for elegant, refined wines which are also age-worthy. 20% new oak

"This is made from eleven different plots in the village of Volnay. A delicate and pure red-berried nose, leading into a palate of supple, almost imperceptible tannins."
