A wine merchant has traded from 8 Academy Street for more than 260 years. Over the centuries, the building has welcomed sailors, bottlers, and merchants as well as a few more discreet operators who used a legitimate wine business as cover for smuggling spirits, tea, tobacco and silks.
Today, the shop stocks nearly 400 wines from 19 countries, ranging from everyday bottles and celebratory favourites to fine wines from some of the world’s most respected producers. The selection includes half bottles, magnums, Corney & Barrow’s Own-Label range and lesser-known discoveries, with options across a wide range of prices.
Shop Manager Katie Rooney brings over a decade of experience in wine and hospitality. Together with Olivia Murray, she offers warm, thoughtful guidance to help you find something you will genuinely enjoy, whether that is a well-priced bottle for dinner or something more ambitious. They can advise on wine and food pairing, recommend bottles for gifts and celebrations, and help you build or develop a cellar over time.
The shop can arrange delivery across the UK and offers free delivery for orders of £150 and over across mainland Scotland. Free parking is available directly outside, and the entrance is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility.
