Psi Peter Sisseck 2008

Spain > Ribera Del Duero

Only the second vintage, yet already showing more personality than the 2007 at the same stage.

This is a very attractive plum-bramble in colour, firm to a bright rim. Intensely coloured with no hint of black. The nose exudes sweet, freshly fermented grape must, lifted by a heady dash of pepper. Sweet, supple and ripe, there are very attractive wild berry aromatics on both the nose and palate, complemented by a serious underlying structure and fine mineral character

Tempranillo, 2008, Dry, Full bodied, 13.5%, Cork

I have been a fan of Peter Sisseck for long time now. All his wines are well made, and full of character. Psi is no exception. It has lots of ripe, black currant fruit, balanced with mineral, and spice flavours. Lovely with cold meats, or on its own.

Press Reviews

"Or you could hunt down Flor de Pingus for some value. Or for a real find from the same website, (corneyandbarrow.com) grab a bottle of Psi 2008 for 22.99 brilliant with lamb and a stunning wine that I'm delighted to include on the list in my own wine bar."

Olly Smith, Mail on Sunday (May 2011)

"The new vintage of this firm favourite of mine is a bit of a gem. Truffly spice on the nose, with a silky, sleek yet dense body, it's a red that you could lay down for years or enjoy now with a meatylicious meal on Bonfire Night."

Olly Smith, Mail on Sunday, Live Magazine (October 2010)

"This 100% Tempranillo wine is made from bought-in fruit, where the farmers are encouraged towards organic practices. Tight, cherry and focused black fruit aromas precede lots of refined, deep-set fruit. The palate has a racy character, with tannins and brisk acidity, the fruit fleshing out the wine nicely in a stylish, focused finish." 91 points / 100

The Wine Gang (July 2010)

"Pingus is a superstar red wine that attracts hysterical interest for its tiny production of stratospherically-priced nectar. Psi is its baby brother; its still expensive but, hey, check out the price of the full banana. Baby bro, but giving you a pretty good idea of what Pingus is all about. Fabulous texture for a start. The wine has a lively tannin and is quite oaky, but the texture of fruit and spice is the main event. The fruit is ultra-red rather than black powerful lush red cherry and red plum with a really bright scent that easily handles the rasp of herbs and sinks contentedly into the soft doughy embrace of cherry cake."
