Organic Wine

This is from the youngest of the Domaine Jacques Prieur vines, planted in 2003 – so already a respectable age, their youthful vigour restricted in any case by strict viticultural discipline. Bright gold, this combines apple pastries, warm and caramelised, with stone fruit and citrus elements. There is a fresh uplifting acidity, bright, a good foil to the opulent, layered fruit. Juicy, with lemon zest intensity, it will makes for smiles all round – terrific balance

Beyond their classic rosé, Provence also produces stunning white wines. Made predominantly from the Vermentino grape (known locally as Rolle), with some zesty Semillon, Château La Tour de l’Evêque Blanc is aromatic, elegant and vibrant.

Mostly Cabernet Franc with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon, lending a dark-fruited, graphite edge to this upbeat, mineral red and lifted by zesty acidity.

This Sancerre is concentrated and lively, expressing its terroir, rich in fossilised shells. It shows an intense nose of citrus fruits, herbs and spices. Lively and persistent, it has the hallmark chalky, mineral finish.

This wine by Peter Vinding-Diers has pristine aromas of dark cherry with spices. Attractive blackberry Syrah flavours refreshed by Sicilian tangerine zest.

Crunchy and precise, with green apples, fleshy pears and pithy grapefruit, it is a wine of vibrant fruit and crisp acidity. The Aligoté revival is in full swing!

If Rasteau is flirtatious, Vacqueras is usually earthier and more leathered – it is the driest part of the southern Rhône. Half of this wine comes from sandy soils which, in combination with cool aspects, lend a welcome silkiness to the tannins.

Clau de Nell is located in the village of Ambillou-Château, in Maine et Loire, between Angers and Saumur. The domaine’s story began in 2006 when Anne-Claude Leflaive and her husband Christian Jacques met the previous owners of the domaine.

This wine is a blend of several higher-elevation plots in Arbois and Montigny-lès-Arsures. The vines, aged between 15 and 45 years old, are mainly on hilltops, on marly soils.

This is a special bottling for C&B which, for only the second time, will bear our own label.
