Tertre Roteboeuf & Roc de Cambes – 2014 Vintage

"A superb vintage representing true Bordeaux elegance." – François Mitjavile

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The wines from the Mitjavile family often march to a different tune to the rest of Bordeaux. The vines exude health and balance, which bolstered them against a season which was at times wet and treacherous.

The grapes are picked late. Seen by some as a high risk strategy, it proved supremely attuned to 2014. The weather bloomed in late summer and early autumn, rewarding those with the patience and nerve to wait.

Tenuta di Biserno – 2011 Vintage

"The vineyards here at Biserno have been tailor-made with the object of translating the exceptional quality of the Bibbona 'terroir'." – Marchese Lodovico Antinori

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

2011 was a textbook year, with almost perfect conditions during the whole of spring and most of the summer. Across the estate, 2011 has given an idea of the potential here in terms of the sheer quality of the tannins and the depth of flavour and complexity.

Clos de Tart – 2013 Vintage

"Thanks to the exceptional quality of terroir at Clos de Tart, and also to the strenuous work of our vineyard workers, we were able to harvest grapes at optimal maturity, after a long wait." – Sylvain Pitiot

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

We were rather taken aback when we tasted this 2013. Once again, third year in a row, Sylvain Pitiot and his team have produced a great wine, against all the odds – and what a year in which to deliver victory from the jaws of potential defeat. This is Sylvain’s last vintage at Clos de Tart and an admirable swansong it is too!

Domaine Comte George de Vogüé – 2013 Vintage

"The 2013 vintage allures with the readability of the terroirs. The wines display unmistakably and from the beginning a beautiful minerality, which generates a great transparency and clarity." – Jean-Luc Pépin

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Eric Bourgogne (Chef de Culture) and his team effected brilliant work in meticulously sorting the grapes, both in the vineyards and on sorting tables outside the cellar as finally, between October 5th and 13th, a ridiculously small but beautiful harvest was brought in. The weather remained mercifully cool but with bouts of rain offering a final adornment to what had been a rollercoaster year.

Burgundy – 2013 Vintage

"We believe that this vintage could be equal to those that preceded it." – Jean-Charles le Bault de la Moriniere

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Corney & Barrow is proud to present the 2013 Burgundy vintage. Although the growing season was a tough one due to the harsh weather conditions, the quality is high. The wines have great intensity and purity, hovewer, the quantities produced are tiny.

Domaine Jacques Prieur – 2013 Vintage

"I joined the family group on the promise that I would have free hands to make the best wines of their appellations." – Edouard Labruyère

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

With nine Grands Crus from Musigny to Le Montrachet and fourteen Premiers Crus from Puligny-Montrachet to Beaune, Domaine Jacques Prieur has perhaps the most exceptional holdings of any domaine in Burgundy.

We are delighted to have been offered the UK exclusivity for Domaine Jacques Prieur. We love and believe in the power of relationships and particularly of great, family-owned estates and in communicating their virtues in a manner that makes them more accessible and intimate to our customers.

Domaine Labruyère – 2013 Vintage

"I grew up in a family where wines were served every single day at the table. My first harvest was at 4, my first hangover at 5, with Moulin-à-Vent 1981, when I fell into the vats (not my best souvenir!)" – Edouard Labruyère

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The wines of Domaine Labruyère are reminiscent of wines produced decades ago, wines whose quality and style seem perhaps unimaginable today: classic and traditional, rich, structured, approachable in youth but with good ageing potential.

Since joining the family firm in 2008, Edouard Labruyère has focused his considerable talents on finessing these qualities, restricting yields, awaiting full phenolic ripeness and introducing Burgundian methods in the cellar. The results are already evident in wines which would give many a Burgundy a run for its money. As exclusive UK agents Corney & Barrow are really excited to be helping return this minute estate to the limelight it deserves.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – 2012 Vintage

"It is very possible that we would not have achieved such maturity and quality if there had not been such losses to bear." – Aubert de Villaine

2012 was above all a "Pell Mell" battle in which instinct, a quality that the young Nicolas Jacob, Chef de Culture, exhibited in particular, counted for as much as experience.

The results are quite lovely, not as effortlessly great perhaps as 2009 and 2010, but with a beauty born and tempered by adversity.

Champagne Delamotte – 2007 Vintage

"A most atypical vintage… yielding a quintessential Delamotte – racy and fine." – Didier Depond

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

A great champagne is first of all a great wine. This has been the driving principle of Champagne Delamotte since its beginnings in 1760, as it is for Champagne Salon, its legendary sister house in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Both houses are champions of the purist blanc de blancs style (itself pioneered by the founder of Champagne Salon), and both recognize that only in exceptional conditions can a single vintage give the qualities required for a wine to express its unique terroir. The absolute quality of a champagne and the pleasure it gives in the glass, are contingent on this.

Domaine François Carillon – 2013 Vintage

"The 2013 vintage was challenging, as it was long (we harvested very late), wet (it rained a lot, throughout), worrying (there was another hailstorm in Pommard in July), difficult to work (it was necessary to tread a fine line treating the vines for disease and maturity took so long) BUT I am finally very, very, proud of it. It is a promising vintage which finally balances both quality and volumes." – François Carillon

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

All fingers and toes were crossed hoping that, after the helter-skelter 2012 vintage, 2013 would be peaceful in terms of climate. Nature had other ideas. That said, despite the adverse conditions thrown at the Domaine specifically and Burgundy generally, the quality is outstanding – a true testament to the power of terroir, allied to strict viticultural discipline… and an eventual benevolent 'nod' from the sun.

BONNEAU DU MARTRAY – 2013 Vintage

"We believe that this vintage could be equal to those that preceded it." – Jean-Charles le Bault de la Moriniere

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The occasionally grotesque, brutal conditions of 2013 were in some ways a surreal mirror image of 2012. What we referred to last year as the ‘terrible attrition’ of the growing season was, in 2013 similarly crowned by the nemesis of so many growers – hail, to which may be added the more prosaic difficulties of delayed flowering, poor fruit set and above all a hugely reduced yield. And yet… the quality of this tiny crop is jewel-like as the tasting notes suggest, with a clenched, intense concentration to match the creamier richness underneath.

THE WINES OF PETER SISSECK – 2013 Vintage

"Despite the initial delay of the cycle, we managed, due to extensive experience in the vineyards, to achieve a well-balanced ratio between clusters and foliage. This, we believe, contributed to a perfect maturity of the grapes." – Peter Sisseck

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

We are extremely proud to be the exclusive UK and Hong Kong agent for Dominio de Pingus and Flor de Pingus, two iconic, highly sought-after Spanish wines along with Psi, the newest recruit to the Peter Sisseck 'Pingus portfolio'.

PÉTRUS – 2013 Vintage

"When we first tasted the 2013 vintage the first impression is fruitiness of the wine and then after is purity… the last word is pleasure." – Olivier Berrouet

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The warm, frequently hot months of July and August represented the heart of 2013. It was what occurred before that determined the quantity and what occurred afterwards that determined the compromise in quality.

CHÂTEAU TROTANOY – 2013 Vintage

"Trotanoy is a sure bet in any vintage. The vineyard is composed of 50% clay and 50% gravel soil. In dry years, the clay retains moisture. In wet years, the gravel drains. Thus, each year at least one parcel is successful. It is like betting on even and odd numbers at a roulette with no zero." – Christian Moueix

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Château Trotanoy is indisputably one of Bordeaux’s finest estates, a tiny, iconic jewel amongst the rarefied properties of Pomerol. It has also played a significant role historically, with its well established reputation for quality dating from the end of the 18th century. The late Jean-Pierre Moueix acquired the property in 1953 and the company he established, Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, now administers and manages the estate, under the stewardship of his successors, son Christian and his grandson Edouard Moueix.

MOUEIX – 2013 Vintage

"Perhaps the best has become the enemy of the good." – Adam Brett-Smith

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

These Moueix wines are good. Their colours glittered brightly and bravely during a one-and-a-half hour tasting on a beautiful spring Saturday last month. I scribbled 5 words and a name in the margin of my tasting notes – balance, tenderness, simplicity, effortlessness and (above all) pleasure. The name was David Gower which will mean everything to cricketers and nothing to anybody else.

MITJAVILE – 2013 Vintage

“... a very pretty vintage with graceful character, refined, which is showing really well in youth but will age well also.” – François Mitjavile

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Team Corney & Barrow went out to taste in Bordeaux with an open mind, if not untrammelled enthusiasm. We could not of course be protected, jury-like from the clamour of damning reports, many of which were penned even before the first grapes were picked, but we have seen too many vintages written off by armchair assessments, based on climate reports alone. This, above all, is a vintage which needs tasting. Ultimately, in spite of all of the challenges, this is a very pretty vintage expressive and refined, which will show well from the outset.

CLOS DE TART – 2012 Vintage

"Produced in very limited quantities, the ripe and very healthy surviving grapes have given an outstanding premium wine: the Clos de Tart 2012 is rich, fleshy, full-bodied, ample, round and promising; undoubtedly it will be a good keeper." – Sylvain Pitiot

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Sylvain Pitiot and his team have indeed produced a beautiful wine, an extraordinary accomplishment in the light of the prevailing climate throughout the growing season.

TENUTA DI BISERNO – 2010 Vintage

"A jewel of an estate overseen by a wealth of talent." – Alison Buchanan

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The harvest was later than normal, but all of the work done in the vineyard paid off, as the team were able to wait for the optimal time to pick. Sorting also had to be strict, which further reduced production. The tannins became ripe at lower than normal sugar levels so that the resulting wines show tremendous finesse and elegance. That will not be the case across the rest of Italy, as rain hit at different times and not everyone could afford the investment in man hours to restrict growth and avert disease. Hard work and dogged determination allowed for top quality by the best producers, but quantities are restricted.

DOMAINE COMTE GEORGES DE VOGÜÉ – 2012 Vintage

"No hard edges. A very complete vintage. Violets and purple lilac." – François Millet, Maître de Chai

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

There was a terrible price to pay for a quite lovely quality, a quality that combines an insinuation of silkiness and sweetness with a purity, intensity and ‘attack’ that shows Burgundy at its best. The quality lies in the size. Nature, having elected to be capricious, no, malevolent throughout most of 2012 also elected, with man’s intervention and prescience, and in clear recognition of its inability to ripen a normal sized harvest, to offer finally a severely reduced crop of intermittently jewel like quality.

CHÂTEAU ROCHEYRON – 2012 Vintage

"After a rather exacting, slow start in spring, the end of the growing season was generous with the vines flourishing under the warm sun – a late harvest, with reduced yields." – Peter Sisseck

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Château Rocheyron Grand Cru Saint-Emilion is the most recent brainchild of Peter Sisseck, creator of the iconic Dominio de Pingus, Ribero del Duero. This is a jewel of a property, supremely sited in the hamlet of Saint Christophe-des-Bardes, just 3.6km from the centre of Saint-Emilion, on the edge of the celebrated limestone plateau. The vineyard comprises two plots of land planted with very old vines. The name of the lieu-dit is Rocheyron and it lies alongside Château Laroque Grand Cru Classé.

CHAMPAGNE SALON – 2002 Vintage

"Salon 2002… is the very soul of Champagne Salon." – Didier Depond

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

As the first Salon vintage of the new millennium, it is fitting that Salon 2002 should make so assured an entrance, displaying with aplomb the classic hallmarks of Salon’s DNA: power, grace, and precision.

DOMAINE FRANÇOIS CARILLON – 2012 Vintage

"2012 will be remembered for its capricious climate, its tiny production and the sheer quality of its wines." – François Carillon

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

François started harvesting with Chardonnay and Aligoté on the 18th September, followed by Puligny villages on the 19th and 20th and the premiers crus on the 22nd and 23rd . After élevage, the wines were revealed to be expressive, with wonderful fresh fruit and citric notes, concentrated and beautifully balanced. The premiers crus, complex and structured, have good ageing potential.

DOMAINE DE LA ROMANÉE-CONTI – 2011 Vintage

"They actually remind me quite a bit of the 2009s not in the sense that they are as ripe and filled with sunshine but in their tenderness and particularly in the style of their tannins." – Aubert de Villaine

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

2011 was a battle, but pyrrhic only in its quantity, heavily reduced by a cocktail of capricious malevolence throughout a large part of the growing season. The quality was born both by mitigating, even on occasion finessing these extraordinary conditions and, as Aubert de Villaine openly admitted, by luck.

DOMAINE MARQUIS D’ANGERVILLE – 2012 Vintage

"Volnay was particularly hard hit in 2012 with two hailstorms, explaining record low yields, but the quality of the vintage will be remembered long after the small crop will have been forgotten." – Guillaume d’Angerville

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

In its totality, 2012 represents about a quarter of a normal crop and yields at the Domaine Marquis d’Angerville were low, in any case. Devastating though this may be, the final quantities being so reduced assured the ultimate quality of the wines which are aromatic, characterful, beautifully balanced and very lovely indeed.

DOMAINE TRAPET PÈRE ET FILS – 2012 Vintage

"If amongst the pleasures, the rarest are the most vibrant, this 2012 vintage, will remain in the memory of winemakers as an outstanding example of the magic of nature, and to the taste buds of wine lovers as a living testimony to Burgundian genius ..." – Jean-Louis Trapet

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

2012 has produced wonderful wines, indeed nigh on miraculous wines given the hand that Mother Nature had dealt growers throughout the year. The downside is that quantities have been savagely reduced, but that is one of the reasons for their truly exceptional quality.

BURGUNDY – 2012 Vintage

"There is almost no wine, but what wine there is, in the right hands, is tear-jerkingly good." – Alison Buchanan

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

2012 has produced some remarkable wines, some breath-taking in their balance of texture, intensity and purity. Such levels of perfection cannot have been foreseen during the 2012 growing season.

BONNEAU DU MARTRAY – 2012 Vintage

"We think that 2012 will be revealed as a great year." – Jean-Charles le Bault de la Moriniere

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

2012 is indeed a wonderful year, producing extraordinary complex finished wines but produced at an almost unbelievable cost. A yield of 9.74 hl/hectare for the Corton-Charlemagne against the average 30-35 and 4.3 hl/hectare against 25–30.

To order these wines, please call 020 7265 2430

DOMAINE LEFLAIVE – 2012 Vintage

"2012 reminds me of nothing so much as a sprawling canvas of immeasurable potential beauty and scale that nature elected to crop, with an almost venomous savagery, down to what might reasonably be considered a miniature of unquestionable quality." – Adam Brett-Smith

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The vintage has a beauty despite, or more accurately because of, the very ingredients that were intemperately and randomly hurled at it. The cost of this beauty was of course yield – less than half of a normal crop and the third consecutive reduced harvest with a fourth on the way, 2013.

ACHAVAL FERRER – 2012 & 2011 Vintages

"The quality of the wines is showing up as being equivalent to that of 2011. This is for us a major coup: we had believed from vertical tastings that 2011 was our best year ever!" – Santiago Achaval

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

Achaval Ferrer is the result of a group of Argentinian and Italian friends coming together with one aim in mind. They had set their sights on producing world class wine in Argentina; wines which would offer exceptional quality, whilst remaining faithful to their origins.

TARDIEU-LAURENT – 2012 Vintage

"The wines are of a very high standard, which leads us to believe that from contrast, harmony can arise." – Michel Tardieu

View the vintage report, tasting notes and prices here.

The Tardieu family produced very attractive wines in 2012 – a real tour de force. Anyone looking at the weather reports from the Rhône Valley in 2012 would be anxious. Therefore it was a fantastic surprise for Sales Director Oliver Hartley, Corporate Sales Manager Dan Senior and myself when we came to taste the Tardieu family’s portfolio. The wines are amazing.
