If Roberto Conterno made only Barbera there would still be a frenzy in demand - they are great wines. Roberto’s assertion is that “they are Conterno first and Barbera second”- vibrant and hedonistic. Also in Roberto’s view“2017 – one of the best vintages for Barbera – warm and dry.” Francia is from 43 year old vines, with related intensity and a textbook saline edge, a signature of the Francia vineyard.
"Rich fruit of damsons, cranberry and then deeper darker fruits. A cool chalky structure with a lovely lively texture.
A very complete wine. There is real depth and a latent power also but there manages to be a lightness of touch. Splendid from the off"
