With nine grands crus from Musigny to Le Montrachet and fourteen premiers crus from Puligny-Montrachet to Beaune, Domaine Jacques Prieur, owned by the Labruyère family, has perhaps the most exceptional holdings of any domaine in Burgundy. The family is very aware not only of their responsibilities to their predecessors but, more important, their successors. The vineyards have been farmed organically, since 1997 and biodynamically since 2009, though the wines are not labelled as such. We at Corney & Barrow really believe that the best Beaune wines are overlooked and subsequently undervalued – lovely wine from a fabulous vintage
"There is a high proportion of clay here, with more topsoil than other vineyards. Spicy and exotic, racy and bright on entry, revealing impressive density on the mid-palate. The tannins are powerful but totally fruit-coated. 15% wholebunch fermentation here, with ageing in 20% new oak. "
