Château Lagrange, Pomerol, has been owned by Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix since 1953. It is planted partly on gravel, partly on clay, including the celebrated blue clay soils so favoured by Merlot vines (95% here) allowing them to achieve exemplary expression. In 2012 Lagrange benefited from the addition of a what had been Certan-Marzelle a two hectare plot within what had formerly been Château Certan Giraud. It now encompasses part of previously La Fleur-Pétrus land - fantastically sited.
"Opaque ruby colour. Arterial dark fruit, vibrantly fresh with that characteristic -inky- perfume. The palate is not just plumply ripe but possesses real density, is full flavoured and generously structured with a fresh and extended finish. The magnum format is tremendous for dinner parties"
