Element Series Sea Sauvignon Blanc Elephant Hill 2016

Designed to express the unique and specific characters of Elephant Hill’s three sub-regional vineyards, the Elements Series is a project in 'terroir'. Each is the fruit of a single site or single blocks, a single grape variety from a single year.

"An exceptional expression of Sauvignon Blanc, from the coastal Te Awanga vineyard. Subtle aromas of green herbs and perfumed alphonso mango, with a waft of saline. The palate shows crystalline fruit purity with a fine and fresh finish."

“The Sea Sauvignon Blanc is unlike most New Zealand expressions; Hawke’s Bay has a slightly riper style than Marlborough but this is beautifully tempered by the cooling effect of the ocean – the wine has a fine-grained texture and you can almost taste the sea spray in the wine.”

Peter Dean, The Buyer

“It’s difficult to think of a better partner for seafood of any kind, but it was also delicious with a veggie starter of heritage tomatoes, beets and honeycomb, with grapes, edible flowers and almond gazpacho.”

David Kermode, Vonosaurus

“Tastes pretty dry, though I wonder if there are a few grams of residual sugar to round out the acidity – it tastes dry on the finish. Leafy, herbal style, very different from typical styles from Marlborough. Long and clean-cut and intense without being exaggerated. Extremely persistent. Seems to be younger than 2016.”
