Enrico Santini is Bolgheri born and bred. Driven by an ambition to work on his native soils, he seized upon the opportunity to own and work an estate single handed. He now has 9 hectares of vineyard situated at between 70 and 80 metres above sea level, sloping east to southwest. The soil, sand and clay over gravel and rock, ideally suits his chosen varieties. He has farmed sustainably, with respect for biodynamic disciplines from the outset.
I Montali is essentially declassified Montepergoli, Enrico’s iconic first wine, a special selection decided during blending
"With 30% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 20% Sangiovese, all vinified separately, this is unusual, layered and complex, elegant, with noble tannins and hints of mocha - all rounded off with a blush of new French oak
