About
Jean-Louis has been intensely terroir driven from the outset. The family is 100% committed to biodynamic principals. They are producing wines of splendid purity, working in tandem with lunar cycles, rejecting chemicals and encouraging indigenous fauna and healthy, vigorous vines, capable of resisting possible attacks by pests or disease. Sites are well-situated on eastern to south-eastern facing slopes on a variety of limestone-based soils. High density planting is exercised and there is a large percentage of old vines, many dating back before 1919.
Third party commentary on Domaine Trapet has, for too long, voiced that the estate’s modus operandi is founded on one principal – “tradition.” Jean-Louis Trapet is not a man to be trammelled by convention. There are no “sacred cows.” He believes everything can be questioned and should be, albeit in the context of admiration for his forebears. Here tradition and innovation are brought together under the meticulous direction of Jean-Louis and his team. We are proud to represent the wines exclusively in the UK.
