Dark cherries on the nose, which is lifted and expressive, with some undergrowth and spice. Muscular on the palate, but with a lovely density of ripe fruit balancing the tannins and holding sway. Grippy on the finish – this will repay a couple of years in the cellar – but judged by the standards of this most ‘masculine’ of villages, this is a gratifyingly sensitive example.
