The name Rugiens derives from ‘ferruginous’, reflecting its red, iron-rich soil. This is fermented using vinification intégrale, whereby whole (destemmed) berries are fermented in large 500L oak barrels. The irony character is evident in this wine’s texture and bite, which balances really well against the bright fruit-focused palate. Around 50% new oak was used.
