The estate has a long tradition, dating back to 1636. Sofia Thanisch, currently at the helm represents the eleventh generation of this remarkable family. She is the fourth woman overseeing the estate. The 100% Riesling vineyards are ungrafted, the wines fermented traditionally in stainless steel, with indigenous yeasts, all to produce an enticing marriage of very pure fruit and slate minerality.
"In many ways the pinnacle of this offer, this majestic wine has quite lovely, upfront stone-fruit, white peach and pretty white flowers, with an impressive weight and body. It feels drier than its Auslese designation indicates, the taut acidity ensuring drinkability and inviting you to have another glass. Indeed, perhaps this drinkability is the key to this wine, finishing long, with persistent, resonant fruit"

“This is a lovely vintage from a revered family-run vineyard, currently with Sofia Thanisch at the helm. The 2017 rings of peach and orange blossom, weighing in with plenty of body and a persisting finish that unfolds notes of minerality. It gives a real taste of the terroir from the offset, it is distinctively on the sweeter side and sits at 7.5% ABV.”
Germany produces some of the world’s very finest white wines, presenting natural, grapey richness complemented by racy acidity. A really fine example sets off a roller coaster of emotion akin to a skilfully played piece of music.
