ABOUT ME
Having read Politics at York meant plenty of time to expand my wine and spirits knowledge working at Oddbins. Their dwindling commercial fortunes meant continuing sadly wasn’t an option, so after a brief stint in banking, a hugely enjoyable fifteen years at a fellow Royal Warrant holding fine wine merchant was perfect place to learn the craft from 2007. Working with and mentored by some of the trade’s most intellectual, ebullient and vibrant characters confirmed that there was absolutely nowhere more stimulating than the wine trade.
Joining Corney & Barrow in the summer of 2024 as Head of Broking with experience in every aspect of private client & cellar management including the fine wine auction sector its safe to say I have seen my fair share of market oscillations. What we do has never been more nuanced and complex, yet the need to simplify it ever more important.
Away from the office life is no less busy: a young family; borderline obsession with fly-fishing and a garden which feels just that little bit too big ensure I’m never lacking for plenty to do.

Bottles shared around the table with great friends and collectors is one of the greatest joys there is. Yarns spun and stories told with simple yet great food – whatever the season and setting.
